My education and life experience as an executive and extensive work with immigrants and newcomers in a variety of has allowed me to understand the academically challenging and multicultural nature of social services. I have made it my personal philosophy to be a Social Services Worker who is beneficial and effective for my clients. I view my client’s increased quality of life and problems solved as part of the bigger picture. I like to enable them to achieve their personal and professional goals in society.
With an academic background in higher education, I combine creative and technical approaches to social service programs. I approach the programs with an appreciation for the overall mandates of the governing bodies and specific institutions while tailoring specific goals to the needs of the clients. For example, I consult and support my clients in dealing with their personal issues. Each individual case varies from another one, therefore, I advise every client with a different method and strategy.
I also ensure my clients get the proper knowledge of the intricacies of the Social Service Worker’s responsibilities, especially, while maintaining proper communication of their intended meaning and requirements. For instance, when dealing with their personal issues, I not only identify the proper rules, but I offer clients a rationale for the existence of the rules. I allow clients to express their problems and issues in a very comfortable environment. I offer my clients multiple opportunities for self-expression, which strengthens their confidence in communicating and sharing their feelings and emotions.
My career as Social Service Worker was inspired by my desire to help people based on my life experiences. Through my community work in Fredericton, I learned about the many challenges people faced in their lives and that I had the skill and ability to help them work through them. Building on this, I formalized my education at Georgian College.
